About Which Social Work School Should I Choose

Which Social Work School Should I Choose?
Hello! I have been accepted into the MSW Program at University of Akron, Case Western Reserve University (MSSA) and Ohio State University. I don't know which school I should pick. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

If rankings are important to you, check out the US News and World Reports annual rankings of colleges. (google it) Also, consider costs - one may be much higher than another. Did one offer you any financial aid? All social work schools have to follow basically the same curriculum, since it is a professional degree that is subject to licensing, so there should not be an appreciable difference in the program itself. If you have a specific interest (gerontology or working with children, for example) you could look to see what each college is strong in, what they offer. Good luck! Kate

Of the three schools Case Western is probably the best school. I've known many graduates from there and they all speak highly of it. Ohio State is suppose to be a good "clinical" school (not top of the pack but good). Akron is known as having a good group work program. I would consider if you plan to live in any of the areas where the schools are or if any of the schools can provide internships where you want to live. Doing your internship where you hope to live can be very helpful as many internships can turn into jobs and connections for jobs. DA
